Internationally renowned Paraguayan classical guitarist Berta Rojas featured Vincent Lindsey-Clark’s Fiesta American on Radio 3 this week as well as name-checking Whitchurch – your chance to listen again.
Whitchurch residents were treated to a concert by Berta Rojas, the internationally renowned Paraguayan classical guitarist, at All Hallows Church back in November, when she included in her repertoire a substantial new work that the Whitchurch-based classical guitarist and composer Vincent Lindsey-Clark wrote specially for her.
Now’s your chance to hear a recording of part of the same piece on Radio 3. Last Sunday, the station aired episode 2 of World Routes, a series in which presenter Lucy Duran features music from around the world. The programme was devoted to Berta Rojas, who name-check Whitchurch in her interview and went on to play El Vuelo de la Mariposa or Flight of the Butterfly from Vincent’s Fiesta American.
You can listen again on BBC iPlayer at http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/player/b01r5n6l. If you’d like to jump straight to the part where Berta Rojas is discussing Vincent’s composition, mentions Whitchurch and then goes on to play the piece, go to 50 minutes 38 seconds into the programme.
