Children from the Primary School were given a special treat and enjoyed an exciting trip out to watch the last two abnormal loads pass through the town.
Over the last few weeks eleven large cylindrical tanks have been brought through Whitchurch on first leg of their journey oversees.

As the convoy passed through the town progress was slow as overhead cables had to be lifted to allow them to pass.

The massive tanks are fermenting vessels which are being transported from the old Heineken owned ‘Courage’ Brewery at Warton Grange, Reading, to Southampton from where they are to be shipped to Poland.
Each vessel weighs 55 tons, is 5.7metres wide an, 6metres high and 28 metres long.
