Les Jordan’s charity cycle ride in aid of OB Breathtakers Trust continues well as he reaches York. His ride from Land’s End through the hilly stretches of Cornwall and Devon was make harder by a tough northerly breeze that has affected many End-2-Enders this year.
Les said that Wednesday was “really good” as he followed the Fosse Way to Leicester but that “lots of traffic and useless cycle lanes” meant that it took ages to cross the city. A drawing pin in the back tyre was unfortunate, but other than some small maintenance yesterday (Thursday) the ride is progressing well.
Les has chosen to take the eastern route up the country, and will soon have the long climbs of Scotland and the wonderful scenery to enjoy before the exhileration of swooping into John o’Groats . The ‘challenge’ is a popular one with cyclists who experience a ride that has so much history behind it as well as passing through the variety of landscape on the journey.
