Bus Walk 3 Front CoverWhitchurch Walkers are Welcome were delighted to officially launch their new Bus Walk, the third in their Bus Walk series at last Saturday’s Green Fair.

This 6.5 mile walk, explores the rarely walked footpaths to the south west between Whitchurch and Bullington, just south of the A303. The trail closely follows the route of the old dismantled railway line that ran from Didcot-Newbury-Southampton and you will encounter a number of the Victorian brick railway arches along the way. At Bullington the path takes you up and over the old railway embankment with clear views along the old track bed.

P1030460They say ‘use it or lose it’ and with our local bus services seemingly under constant review, these bus walks can appreciably add to the footfall, so get out there, hop on a bus and enjoy the autumn colour while you can.

PLEASE NOTE: This walk requires good walking shoes/boots and long trousers; you will encounter thistles and nettles when you cross the old water meadow at Bullington and some stretches of path alongside the fields between the A303 and Larkwhistle Farm can be uneven.

Printed copies of the walk are now available from the Gill Nethercott Community Centre and available for download at www.whitchurchwalks.net
