Work is starting work on Tuesday 7th May to improve pedestrian links and parking to Winchester Road in Whitchurch.
As part of this work measures will be installed on sections of the grass verges to prevent vehicle parking, while two off-road parking areas will be provided.
The works will include upgrading the footway and parking between the Weir and the allotment frontage, and to the existing verge outside No.32 and the Willows (the section near the Gill Nethercott Centre).
In addition timber ‘dragons teeth’ bollards will be installed to the verge outside Nos 83 and 85 Winchester Road (near Burnaby’s store) in order to afford some protection to pedestrians in that area.
Working hours will be between 9.30am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday, and temporary, two way traffic lights will in operation during this time.
The work is expected to take five weeks to complete and is being carried out by contractors, on behalf of Hampshire County Council. Access for vehicles and pedestrians to all properties will be maintained during the contract.
The cost of the scheme, funded by developer contributions, is £36,000.
