WADS, Whitchurch’s own theatre group, is choosing an autumn production, and is looking for local people to join in.

Whether you want to act, direct, or do something behind the scenes, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved. Currently, WADS is thinking of doing Carpe Jugulum by Terry Pratchett.

WADS chairman Claire Isbester says:

“What we want to do is put on a production towards the end of the year that has genuine appeal to adults and children. Carpe Jugulum fits the bill pretty well. There are lots of parts for both men and women, young and old. It has at least three good parts for young women, as well as a few for young men. It’s very funny, too.

“We’d also welcome anyone who fancies directing it, as well. Although we have people already in WADS who could do it, it would be great to welcome some new blood.

“And, if anyone in Whitchurch or nearby fancies directing but doesn’t fancy Carpe Jugulum, then we’d love to hear from them too. We are very open minded about what we put on in the autumn.”

If you’d like to find out more, please get in touch with Claire by EMAIL, online (wadsweb.org.uk), or by telephone (01256 892514).
Alternatively, just turn up to a WADS club night at 8pm on Tuesdays at the Community Suite at Testbourne School.

Concludes Claire:

“We take our responsibility as a community theatre group seriously, so we are always keen to invite other people in to join us. WADS has been going strong since 1958, and while some of our original members are still very much involved, we also constantly welcome new members.”
