The town centre rang out this evening to the ringing of bells, the waving of handkerchiefs and the clashing of sticks as Winchester Morris came to entertain. The team travel around Hampshire on Wednesday evenings and today it was the turn of Whitchurch as they performed a series of dances opposite the White Hart on the Town Hall forecourt.
A small but interested crowd of onlookers gathered to witness one of England’s truly traditional pastimes.

Morris dancing, has roots way back in time, although as one member of this team remarked there are as many theories as to its origins as there are Morris men!
