BDBC Waste haltedGarden waste and bulky waste collections are set to be temporarily suspended in Basingstoke and Deane and Hart following the outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19)

Working with Serco, Hart District Council and Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council have taken the difficult decision to suspend non-essential services to protect waste, recycling and clinical waste collections across both areas.

Serco is facing and anticipating staffing issues following announcements from the government about the need for people to self-isolate where there are symptoms in their home and social distancing for people at high risk.

The waste contractor is working hard to complete the 156,000 bin collections a week across Basingstoke and Deane and Hart with a reducing work force.

Serco plans to complete garden waste collections in Basingstoke from Monday 23 March to Friday 27 March but will be monitoring staffing on a daily basis.

No new garden waste subscriptions or renewals or bulky waste bookings will be accepted until the service is up and running again.
