The year has been a good one for Whitchurch, many more ups than downs and ending with the highlight of the success of the Arctic Medal campaign. However we cannot help but think of the harm drink driving can do following the crash this morning just outside the town.

But over the past year Whitchurch can look back with pride. The volunteer website team has been happy to oversee the mass of positive articles and enjoyable events through the 12 months. It has been a record year too, as we passed the 30,000 views a month barrier for the first time, and now move towards an incredible half-a-million views total – and it is still not even three years old.

This is all down to the growing number who write articles, provide pictures, supply tips for stories and help maintain all the community, business and visitor listings – all in their spare time.

It is the wonderful community of Whitchurch which makes it such a special place in which to live.

So here’s wishing everyone in Whitchurch a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and let us all raise our glasses to toast the whole town.
Enjoy the holiday, stay safe, and don’t eat too many mince pies!
