Today’s Carnival procession through town was cancelled due to the downpour all this morning, according to the chairman of the Festival Committee, Rob Dunlop. It is hoped that it can be rescheduled for a weekend in about 4 to 6 weeks.

Thankfully, the Fête at the primary school grounds still went ahead at 2pm – under a mixture of rain and sun…and a windy gust that blew over a tent!

There were rides, a bouncy castle, and a bucking bronco for the kids (some looking a few years past graduation). Stalls from various businesses and organisations ringed the school grounds. The mayor, councillor Barry Jackman, and the mayoress enjoyed meeting many of the people who came out.

Some of the money raised will be handed back out by the Festival Committee to ‘good causes’ in town. Further details are on the Festival website HERE.
