Fairtrade for Whitchurch moved another step forward last night with confirmation of future plans. Representatives from various organisations and businesses met in the White Hart to hear updates on ideas and activities.
A launch event is to be held in the town as well as competitions and other related events. Questionnaires have been prepared for local businesses and groups, while children are to have competitions to design a Fairtrade bollard and a poster. Latest group to help out are Whitchurch Scouts who will be running a Fairtrade activity.
Relationships are being built with others towns, and it was exciting to receive offers of help from as far away as Garstang in Lancashire.
This website continues to highlight traders supporting Fairtrade (look for the logo) and it is possible they may be similarly highlighted on a local leaflet.
Meanwhile, looking ahead, next year’s Fairtrade Fortnight is 28th February to 13th March 2011.
