GENERAL ELECTION

Whitchurch, which is part of the North West Hampshire Constituency has a new MP with Conservative candiate Kit Malthouse taking most votes in yesterday’s General Election.

Kit Malthouse replaces Sir George Young who had been MP for the area since 1997 and who had announced his retirement.

RESULTS:

Kit MALTHOUSE (Conservatives) 32,052 (58.1 %)
Sue PERKINS (UKIP) 8,109 (14.7 %)
Andrew ADAMS (Labour) 7,342 (13.3 %)
Alexander PAYTON (Liberal Democrats) 5,151 (9.3 %)
Dan HILL (Green) 2,541 (4.6 %)

Registered Voters: 79,223
Ballots Papers Issued: 55,402 ( 200 spoilt papers)
Votes Cast: 55,195 (69.9 % Turnout)

WHITCHURCH TOWN COUNCIL

The Election results for Whitchurch Town Council have already been announced.
Twelve Councillors sit on the Town Council for which there have been ten nominations.

As a result the Returning Officer has declared that those nominated below have been “duly elected Parish Councillors for Whitchurch Town”:

Town Councillors are elected for a four-year term.

BASINGSTOKE & DEANE BOROUGH COUNCIL

There was no election in this area for Councillors to Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council this year.
Councillors remain as Eric DUNLOP and Keith WATTS.
The next election is in 2016.
