One of the farms adjacent to the town is up for sale.

The 42.5 hectares (105 acres) Arnolds Farm that abuts Lynch Hill Park, Wells-in-the-Field and London Road is on the market for a guide price of £1.6million.
The farm, is home to 13,000 free-range hens and a sheep flock of around 160 ewes.

The sales agents say that

‘The sale provides a rare opportunity to create a small country estate (subject to necessary planning consents). The property has great potential for agricultural, equestrian or amenity purposes’.

There is residential accommodation within a former agricultural building, offices and storage space, and various other buildings including a Dutch barn and a Lambing shed.

Two Chicken Houses house the equipment for the egg production.

Arnolds Farm eggs are available in a number of town outlets including the Old Paper Shop. which reached the news here when six double yolk eggs were found in one box.

Some have also linked the farm to possible development for housing, although it is believed that would be unlikely.
