You can help to update the BBC’s “Domesday Book” with your experiences and impressions of Whitchurch.

The original project was run by the BBC in 1986, 900 years after William the Conqueror’s original Domesday Book. Its goal: “to capture the essence of life in the United Kingdom…documenting everyday life – the ordinary rather than the extraordinary.”

Its 1986 information about Whitchurch can be read HERE.

There is a link at the bottom of each article which you can click on to update the information. The BBC is accepting updates from now through to October 31, 2011.

One entry from 1986 stated, “We who have taken part in the survey (think) that Whitchurch will never change dramatically, and that it will always continue to be a very pleasant country town both in which to work and live.”
