Daisydown Crafts opens!

Another new shop has just opened in town! Daisydown Crafts at 3 Newbury Street, in the Town Hall building, raised its sign above the door this morning and opened up to the Saturday shoppers.

Jill Thomas, behind counter, welcomes visitors to her shop.

Inside is a haberdashery, a store filled with crafts, party supplies, clothing accessories, knitting and wool, scarves, jewellery, children’s bags and hats, ceramics, and paintings to name just some! Many of the pieces are locally sourced, including works by Whitchurch Arts members.

Jill admires the body-lotion candle made by Pauline Southam of SoapBespoke.

A popular item today was a cake and cookie stand, just like the one used to offer fresh opening-day party cake to the shop’s visitors. Many people that came in to browse left with something interesting – a popular store already!

A party cake display stand was a hot seller on opening day.

Owner Jill Thomas, a Whitchurch resident for 7 years, said, “I opened this shop because there is a need for an outlet for their work. The shop has a mix of art, party supplies and gift shop.”

Gift item supplier Pauline Southam was impressed with the new shop when she visited; She showed visitors her mugs containing body massage candles and said they would make a perfect Valentine’s gift.
