The Cup has come to Whitchurch.

Whitchurch Utd 3 – Stockbridge 1

In the final of the Andover Open Cup Competition, Whitchurch Utd slotted three goals into the net against Stockbridge in what was a well deserved victory.
Whitchurch had come through to the Final having beaten Winchester Castle, Ludgershall Sports and Broughton.

The game, played at Foxcotte Park in Charlton saw an even first half in Whitchurch scored first, with Stockbridge equalising just before the half time whistle. Either team could have taken the match but the ‘Church came out lively after the interval and upped the game for a strong second half performance. Stockbridge were fast on the break but with two more goals Whitchurch took the title in a game played with a good atmosphere.
Paul Coventry, Luke Walker and Ali Brown all made the scoresheet in a match which showed the character of the Whitchurch squad.

It was delighted manager who saw his team hold the silverware aloft, bringing a highlight to the last few games of the season.

Congratulations are in order to a team that has done the town of Whitchurch proud this season.

The next game for the First Team is a Wessex League match away to Cowes Sports on Saturday 21st April, with a customary 3.00pm kick off.
