Several hundred people lined the streets of Whitchurch to celebrate the return of the Household Troops Band of the Salvation Army, after their historic visit 120 years ago, and to enjoy the varied and colourful floats, costumes and music in the Whitchurch Festival carnival procession!
The Mayor, Councillor John Clark welcomed the Band and made a presentation – see the Town Council website for a full report of this (UPDATE: the report was not transferred to the new TC website unfortunately).
The Band marched through The Square and led the procession down Winchester Street.
Fun was had by all at the Carnival fete which followed on the grounds of the primary school.
A big thank you goes out to the Festival Committee and its chairman Rob Dunlop who coordinated all the fun today and the events earlier in the summer, too.
Congratulations to all the participants, and particularly these winners…
