TreeTree Warden – can you help?

Are you interested in trees and the environment?
Could you help the Town Council and its Development Committee?

The importance of trees
An important role of the Committee is to provide local input to decisions affecting trees in the area, which are so important to the character of the Whitchurch. Many of these have Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs) on them or are within the Conservation Area and when an owner wishes to carry out works such as lopping or felling, they are required to apply for permission.

Training and support
The Town Council relies on volunteers to look at trees and make a judgement as to the effects of carrying out the works so that Councillors can make their decisions. Could you join the team as a volunteer Tree Warden? It is not onerous, and help and assistance is available. We have some training arranged on Wednesday 29th March from 10.00am to 11.30am in the Town Hall with a Tree Officer from Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council who will be helping Councillors and volunteers to understand how applications for tree works impact within the planning system and how the Town Council can respond.
