In a twist to the cotton bag story, residents in Whitchurch are now able to claim a FREE Cotton Bag from one of the town’s respected businesses on receipt of a Voucher.

The Newbury Building Society, has distributed leaflets incorporating a redeemable voucher to local households, offering cotton bags to those who visit their office. The aim is to encourage trade into their premises and to raise their profile by their logo being seen on the bags. This is one of many promotions they are running.
Note that these are not the long awaited W4W bags (see Postscript).

The NBS is very much a community-minded business, having recently been one of the main supporters of the Faster Broadband campaign.

They offer a wide range of financial services from young savers accounts and mortgages to insurances, loans and financial planning advice. They are proud of their local roots, being one of the oldest building societies in the UK, and it remains a mutual society, owned by its members.

Members also have access to a Loyalty Card with a whole range of offers including, in Whitchurch, discounts on fitness classes and party hire at Testbourne, and discounts at the White Hart.

Other town businesses can also have a similar opportunity of offering free cotton bags to draw customers through their doors, if ‘Working 4 Whitchurch’ were to release the public-funded bags, designed by local Rainbow Guides, that they have been holding on to for almost a year.
