South_Western_Railway_LogoNotwithstanding the current series of strikes being held on the railways in the area, South Western Railway are introducing a new timetable as from 15th December.

BUT –  it is confusing as it won’t actually be introduced until the strike is over.

During the week there are some slight alterations to timings so check if you tend to rely on running over the footbridge!

Sundays will now need a change to reach London
However, it is on Sundays where the main changes have been made, with trains from Whitchurch only running as far as Basingstoke (with one early morning exception).
It will be necessary to change trains if travelling to London, and journey times will be longer.

The new timetables are available here:
SWR TIMETABLES

NOTE ONE
Whilst the new timetables commence on 15th December, they currently are being replaced by a special reduced service due to the strikes taking place.

NOTE TWO
SWR also have the following on their website about proposed changes from December 2020:
“We’re launching a consultation on proposals to remove a small number of late night and early morning services from Sunday to Thursday from December 2020. This will allow Network Rail more time to carry out essential maintenance work and help keep trains running on time.”

LATE NIGHT SERVICES CONSULTATION

Advice must always be – check before travelling.
