After a wait of nearly a year, without a 24-hour Cashpoint, and a promise that the new machine at Tesco in Winchester Street would be operational today, we learn of a further delay.

“Electrical issues”
The planned ‘switch on’ was to be this afternoon, 16th August. While most of the equipment has been installed Tesco have said the delay is due to “electrical issues”.

At the moment it is not known when this will be resolved.

Planning conditions
The Basingstoke & Deane planning conditions also state:
“No development shall commence until secure cycle parking facilities comprising 2 ‘Sheffield’ hoop cycle stands have been provided”

As yet these are not available as they are hidden behind empty Tesco stock trolleys and a skip.
Local cycle campaigners are also questioning why the location is at the back of the car park which can only create conflict between cars and cycles.

Plastic covered bollards have been provided around the Cashpoint.
