Philip Langley, the new butcher in Winchester Street, has now been officially opened.
Since taking over the premises in January, Philip has been improving the premises with new windows, signage and now new chilled display cabinets.
The range of produce has also increased and Philip is always on hand to give advice.
The Town Mayor and Mayoress Cllr Barry Jackman and his wife Sandra, officially announced the business open in a small gathering on Saturday morning.
“old fashioned service”
Philip’s wife Margaret, who helps in the shop, says they are keen to welcome both old and new customers and to give that ‘old fashioned service that past customers of Langleys have come to expect’. They are also ably assisted in the shop by Adam Hopgood who is learning much about the trade.
Philip used to run a butcher’s shop in Andover which was renowned for the standard of homely service and high quality produce, which will now continue in Whitchurch.
That reputation is fast spreading and the queue sometimes now stretches out of the door and into Winchester Street.
