The police are reporting two break-ins overnight, between 0300 and 0530, of two local businesses.

An attempt was made to steal cigarettes from the cabinet at the petrol station on Church Street. A drain cover was stolen from near Mulberry Mead which was used in this ultimately unsuccessful break-in. Following this, the Brockenhurst Estate Agency in The Square was broken into via the front door, and a computer laptop was taken.

PC Paula Deery said, “This is similar to cigarette breaks that have occurred in Basingstoke recently which is being investigated by CID. This [couple of break-ins] doesn’t appear to be local people but an organised group that are travelling through the area.”
