After the incredible nine-goal win against Amesbury last week, Whitchurch United have put four goals past the Wessex First Division leaders.

Cowes Sports 0 – Whitchurch United 4

The Jam Boys travelled to Cowes Sports FC on the Isle of Wight, to take on the Yachtsmen at their Westward Ground. Against the odds they gave a drumming to the Division’s top team, with three of the goals coming in the second half. There will be celebrations tonight amongst the Whitchurch squad.

The high-flying Cowes Sports team had only lost once before at home this season and their position at the top of the table is now looking to be under threat. They lead by 6pts, but Brockenhurst in second place with 43pts have three games in hand. Only 1 point difference covers 2nd, 3rd and 4th places with Whitchurch now consolidating 4th slot ahead of Petersfield.

19 goals in 4 games
Whitchurch have now scored 19 goals in their last four League matches, with only one against.
They are beginning to look unstoppable and after today’s performance the title will be in their sights.

Forthcoming fixtures
The next League match is on Saturday 9th March when Whitchurch are at home to Hythe and Dibden who are languishing at the bottom of the table.
This gives the Jam Boys a chance to move up into second place in the League.

However before that on this Tuesday (5th March), they take on Fleet Town at the Whitchurch Longmeadow ground in the semi-final of the North Hants Senior Cup; kick off at 7.45pm
