The Shop Window Competition Shield has been presented to local business Clacy’s for their excellent festive window display over the Christmas period.
On Saturday the Mayor, Cllr Jackie Day, made the award to Mrs Clacy from the long established car and garage business at their London Street premises.
The Competition Shield
The Shield was first presented in 2002, having been introduced by the then Mayor Cllr Barry Jackman. It was also first awarded as a recognition of the Queen’s Golden Jubilee of that year.
Competition was fierce as nearly every shop and business had decorated their windows with lights, baubles and seasonal displays as part of the Christmas in Whitchurch celebrations arranged by the local traders.
From the crib in the window of Rosies Gifts, to the spectacular themed dress in the Bridal Shop; from the snowman in Dowlings to the chimney of Paynes, the hard work by the many businesses to the festive spirit made the town a joy to shop in.
All the shops and businesses which participated are thanked for adding to the atmosphere.
Clacys will now hold the Shield for one year.
Thank you to Ian Day for the photograph.
