There is always something on over the weekends in Whitchurch and this one is no different although this one seems to have a creative focus.

Art Show at the GNC
Saturday sees the opening of the Whitchurch Arts Exhibition at the Gill Nethercott Centre, with a theme of ‘Dreams’. Entry is free and, as well as displays from local artists, there are guests providing music, activities for children, and of course refreshments including the renowned cakes! Details of the Off the Walls initiative that sees local art being displayed around the town will also be available. Open 10.00am – 4.00pm

Silk Exhibition
Meanwhile just across the river, there is an exhibition in the Silk Mill – ‘Serenissima’. The displays feature hand woven silks by fashion students at the Basingstoke College of Technology, and inspired by Venice. This is well worth a visit. Open 10.30am – 5.00pm

Your chance to be creative!

On Saturday evening, another type of ‘art’ takes place down at the Kings Arms! Karaoke. If you haven’t seen this, or joined in the fun down this pub, be ready for some creative renditions! Open – well, just turn up mid-evening onwards!

Work by local children
Sunday sees the GNC Exhibition open again but today it also features a special showing of a competition at the primary school. The whole school participated in creating designs for the town bollards and over 300 were submitted.
40 of these have been selected for display at the Art Show, so come along and support the artistic children of our town.
See which ones you would like to be painted and to decorate our streets! Open 10.00am – 4.00pm.

Music at the Bell
As the Art Exhibition closes why not wander down to the Bell where the creative juices of some of the town’s musicians will be flowing. Keith Bell’s informal acoustic music sessions are returning after the summer break. These are great fun where good company, chat and real ales can be enjoyed in such a relaxed atmosphere. If you bring an instrument you may even be able to join in. 4.00pm until the songs run out!
