Whitchurch Folk Club continues to go from strength to strength, and we’ve been planning an amazing lineup for the remainder of this year and into 2020. We’ve built up a reputation in the national folk community for putting on a great mix of top names and up-and-comers. If you want to know more about the coming programme and get your tickets early, follow us on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or by signing up to our mailing list.
Coming this August (15th), in conjunction with Wild Goose Records, we’ll be hosting the album launch concert for Sara Grey. You may not have heard of her, but try this on for size: Sara’s early recordings are in the Smithsonian. She’s a proper folk legend, known for her renditions of traditional American songs, from old cowboy songs to old-timey ballads that she learnt in her youth in the time-honoured way – handed down from person to person. It doesn’t get more authentic than this.
For the first time, we’ll be hosting a Whitchurch Folk Club event at All Hallows Church. Both the organisers, Paul Sartin and myself, have performed many times in churches around the country and we’ve always loved doing so. They offer such a unique atmosphere, and their acoustics are incredible. We can’t wait to bring Sara and her son Kieron here to perform in such a wonderful setting.
Tickets for the show are now available, and can be bought online by clicking here, or in person from Paul at this week’s Country Market (Gill Nethercott Centre – August 2nd). They are priced at £12. We really hope you can join us for what we think is really quite a coup.
