Age Concern Hampshire’s new ‘Village Agent’

Dorrie Bilson writes: After spending the last five years working as Parish Nurse with All Hallows, I have had to let my nursing registration lapse and give up that role.  Rather than lose the contacts and lose the community involvement, I have decided to take up the role of ‘Village Agent’ for Age Concern Hampshire.  (Yes, I know that Whitchurch is a town, but for simplicity Age Concern Hampshire uses the term for their representatives in all of the rural communities, and no, I will not have double ‘O’ in my phone number!)

So, what is this new role?  Village Agents are local volunteers supported by Age Concern Hampshire to help people to find the services they need to stay living safely and independently.

The plan is that I will be able to help you find information on the following:

·        Benefits – what you may be entitled to

·        Blue Badge Scheme

·        Community groups/ Social Clubs/          Courses in this area

·        Computer/internet Help

·        Council Enquiries

·        Council Tax

·        Safety Around the Home

·        Safety Out and About

·        Home Fire Safety

·        Reliable Tradespeople

·        Meals on Wheels

·        Nuisance Calls

·        Personal Care

·        Preventing Falls

·        Scams

I can help you save time searching for information and making multiple phone calls, particularly for those of you who are less familiar with the internet.
