The Whitchurch Town Council lost another Councillor last night as a fourth Councillor resigned in as many months.

Cllr Allan Vaughan, who was also the Chairman on the Policy and Resources Committee, announced his resignation at the full Council last night.

An election is already arranged to fill the three vacancies created by the previous resignations, which will be on Thursday 12th December in the Gill Nethercott Centre (7.00am – 10.00pm).

Arrangements for the filling of this latest vacancy will be announced when known.

The following statement was made on the Town Council website:

Cllr. John Clark, Chairman of the Town Council and Mayor of Whitchurch stated:

I am only too aware of the amount of time and effort that Councillors put in to try to make a difference in Whitchurch. I would like to thank Allan for his dedication and commitment to this council, particularly in his role as Chairman of the Policy and Resources Committee. He introduced changes to procedures in administration to assist the Clerks with their ever increasing workload, and the idea of the Clerks having a line manager and annual appraisals. Allan’s expertise will be greatly missed.

I think that we, the Electorate, should be told why four Town Councillors have quit at such short notice, and not be fobbed of with the politically correct smokescreen that has been presented to us thus far.
