Thank you to all who have provided feedback on the item below.
It is hoped that the result may be available next week.
BT have now released the eligible entries for the £5000 prize won by the Whitchurch area in the Faster Broadband campaign (see background HERE).
The campaign team who are a part of the judging panel would like to involve the whole community in the selection procedure.
Three entries have received by the judges for consideration.
A : EXTENSION OF WIRELESS INTERNET (WiFi) AT THE PRIMARY SCHOOL
There are only a handful of classrooms with reliable wireless internet (‘WiFi’) coverage and many areas of the school with poor or non-existent coverage.
Laptops are used throughout the day and require good WiFi coverage to assist teachers and benefit children’s learning. With the education budget restrictions there are no funds to obtain hardware to extend coverage.
B : GREEN SCREEN FOR THE PRIMARY SCHOOL
Provision of a Green Screen – enabling engagement of children in creative classwork.
Info: A green screen allows creative presentations, an example of green screen use is the weather forecast – a person filmed against a background.
An example is HERE
C : WHITCHURCH AREA COMMUNITY IT EQUIPMENT LIBRARY
A ‘Community Library’ of IT equipment such as a Camcorder, Digital Projector and Laptops, that can be borrowed for community projects or by local groups or individuals.
Uses can include courses for the young and the elderly, recording nature activity, education use by schools, youth club, recording of local events, creation of a local history archive, etc
It would be available to benefit the whole Whitchurch exchange area.
*note that ‘C’ was the favoured submission that came from encompassing the 19 community ideas presented at the Public Meeting (White Hart 14th March 2011).
YOU CAN HELP choose the winning idea, although it should be noted that the campaign team only holds one vote and BT have other judges.
However we want that vote to be best for the Whitchurch area.
