4711 pieces of litter!

Pupils at Testbourne School have been working on their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award over the last school year which culminated with an expedition weekend. One young lady has provided a special benefit to the town.

Many hours of volunteering
Whitchurch Town Council would like to pass on many thanks to Natalie Hawrylak who, as part of her DofE, spent over 15 hours volunteering her time to collect litter from around the town. Natalie chose different areas of the town to cover – the town centre streets, residential roads, the recreation grounds, and more rural roads leading from the town.

Amazingly, Natalie collected a total of 4711 pieces of litter from around the town!

Residents can also play their part in keeping our town tidy and litter free by taking rubbish home or using the bins.
Meanwhile the Town Council employs a part-time street cleaner, Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council send street cleaners to Whitchurch, and the Walkers Are Welcome and other volunteer group regularly litter pick along footpaths.

Thank you to Natalie and to all those who help make our town a better place to live.
