2012 is a major milestone in the history of churches in Whitchurch as the Whitchurch Methodist Church celebrates its 200th Anniversary.
A whole range of events have been announced to mark the auspicious occasion which are listed below:

Saturday 14th April

The Salvation Army Band and songsters will be giving a concert at the church in aid of the St Thomas Lupus Trust, a disease in which the immune system fails to work. More details of this event, to be hosted by the Mayor of Whitchurch.

Saturday 28th April 10.00am – 4.00pm

Alison Deveson will be launching her book, titled The Whitchurch Methodists – the Story So Far. The book has been written by Alison with contributions from many of the congregation and friends of the church. Alison will be present to sign copies.

Saturday 28th April 10.00am – 4.00pm

Combined with the book launch is a special exhibition of photographs and other memorabilia in the Large Hall. All are welcome to come and look pictures of yourself and your relatives and friends in the photographs on display, and to try and identitfuy any of the ‘mystery’ ones.

Sunday 13th May

The Vice-President of Conference, Mrs Ruth Pickles will be at today’s morning service., while the exhibition of photos and artifacts can be visited after.

Sunday 20th May

The Anniversary Service will be led by the Rev. Peter Clatford and will feature special anniversary hymns – and also the enjoyment of a birthday cake!

Friday 15th – Monday 18th June – times to be announced.

The theme of this Flower Festival is ‘Church in the Community’. The church is looking for lots of help over the weekend with arranging sponsorship of flower arrangements, refreshments and welcoming visitors. If anyone can help, please pop into the church and leave a message for Helen Watson.

Saturday 8th September

The Methodist Church will be open to coincide with Heritage Weekend across the country, which runs from September 6th to the 9th. This is a chance to visit the church and learn more about its history.

Saturday 29th- Sunday 30th September

A celebration to remember all the harvests for the last 200 years.
