Andrew Ashdown rides a donkeyAndrew Smith presents a slide show of his recent pilgrimage to the Holy Land, in a group led by the Revd. Andrew Ashdown, husband of All Hallows’ curate Victoria, and renowned expert on the region.  Revd. Andrew will also be attending the presentation.
The group stayed in Jerusalem, Beit Sahour (the Shepherds’ Fields village outside Bethlehem) and Nazareth.  They visited many of the holy sites in Jerusalem, the West Bank and Galilee, as well as seeing the effects of the present Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories and hearing the stories of Palestinian Christians, a community of dwindling numbers but going back 2000 years to Jesus’ time.  The presentation promises to provide a fascinating first-hand account of the people and places of this beautiful but troubled land, and will be followed by a Q & A with both Andrews.
Donations towards Andrew Smith’s travel expenses will be much appreciated, and the event will include tasty Middle Eastern snacks, and an opportunity to purchase in time for Christmas beautiful olive wood items bought in Beit Sahour.
