A Fairtrade Town is a place that has made a commitment to supporting Fairtrade and using products with the Fairtrade Mark.
If you are interested in finding out what is involved in Whitchurch becoming a Fairtrade Town, and perhaps helping it to happen, there will be a meeting in the White Hart at 8pm on Monday 24th May.

“Fairtrade” is defined by the Fairtrade Foundation as…
“about better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability, and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world. By requiring companies to pay sustainable prices (which must never fall lower than the market price), Fairtrade addresses the injustices of conventional trade, which traditionally discriminates against the poorest, weakest producers.”
