Paraguayan guitarist Berta Rojas will play Vincent Lindsey-Clark’s Fiesta American – a substantial new work that the Whitchurch-based classical guitarist and composer has written specially for her.
Internationally renowned classical guitarist’s world tour takes in four UK venues – London, Bristol, Manchester, Liverpool and Whitchurch
Vincent has persuaded Berta Rojas to add Whitchurch to her list of world tour dates, at a concert on 10th November at All Hallows Church, in association with the Southampton Classical Guitar Society. Rojas has already performed two of the four Latin American style pieces that make up Fiesta Americana in the USA, Japan, Malaysia and other countries but she will now be including the whole suite in her programme.
Vincent says: “As yet I have not heard her play any of it, so I am really looking forward to this concert. Berta will also be playing lots of lovely music from South America and other parts of the world. She is the world authority on the music of her illustrious compatriot Augustin Barrios Mangore, whose music is loved by guitarists the world over. I am sure concert goers will enjoy all the music in this concert – hopefully mine too!”
Berta Rojas is also a cultural ambassador for Paraguay and has a teaching post at the George Washington University USA.
Tickets will be available from The Newbury Building Society, Whitchurch and from Vincent on 01256 896650.
£10 for adults and £8 for 16 years and under.
