The Budapest Café Orchestra play powerful folk-based music inspired by European gypsies, Hungarian Czardas, Russian folk melodies, dances from Romania and Moldavia, Jewish laments plus a few surprises.
The music evokes images of Tzigane fiddle maestros and Budapest café life. Violinist Chris Garrick has worked with Nigel Kennedy, the Dankworths and Duffy, among many others. Accordionist Eddie Hession has toured with the Three Tenors and features on the soundtrack of just about every film in which you can hear an squeezebox (including Captain Pugwash). And to cap it all guitarist Adrian Zolotuhin is just about to take over guitar tuition duties at our very own Testbourne school.
“the fiery vivacity…of the finest purveyors of Eastern European gypsy music…will leave you with a grin on your face and rhythm in your feet…”
