A Russian Christmas is a concert of Russian and East European music & songs, featuring some brilliant musicians and a lot of fun.
Bibs Ekkel is one of the top exponents of the Balalaika in the world. He has toured the globe, performed for royalty and can be heard on the soundtracks of many films. For music students this is a great opportunity to see a virtuoso musician who knows his instrument inside out. Serguei Pachnine (playing Bayan, the Russian accordion) was the front man of the fantastic Soviet Swing band The Kremlinaires. And local guitar guru Adrian Zolotuhin is a member of the Budapest Cafe Orchestra, who have been touring their particular brand of Gypsybeat up and down the country to popular & critical acclaim for the last ten years.
Supporting the professionals will be a group of local Cossacks, The Imperial Balalaika Orchestra of Overton, who will bring a bit of attitude to the proceedings with surprising cover versions and a unique take on Georgian dance.
