WW1 Centenary logoWhitchurch is having a special bench installed in the Alliston Way Recreation Ground in commemoration of the Centenary of the ending of the First World War.

The ‘unveiling’ event is being held on Thursday 1st November at 11.00am when local children, the Mayor and others will meet to read hopes for the future and attach poppies and messages.
All are welcome to come along and join in this recognition for those who have served our country and who will do so in the future.

The Recreation Ground was itself was “provided as a tangible memorial of the peace following the Great War 1914–1918. The freehold was presented as a free gift to the Parish of Whitchurch by Portals Ltd.”

The new bench is being provided by Whitchurch Town Council and depicts those who serve.
